The Committee of Interns and Residents is the oldest and largest housestaff union in the country, representing more than 13,000 interns, residents, and fellows in California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, and Washington, D.C. Membership in CIR gives residents an important voice to improve their salary and working conditions, their education and training, and the quality of care they provide to patients. The resident physicians of CIR come from diverse backgrounds and are the physicians-in-training for all specialties, including psychiatry.
We’re in the process of building an alumni network of all CIR past members going back to our founding in 1957. These are local practicing physicians with their own stories to share.
If you're in a state with a CIR chapter, we'd be happy to set you up with additional information or speakers who could attend a community dialogue on mental health. Please use this contact form and a member of CIR's staff will reach out to you.
